Sweden is not turning radical â€" quite the opposite

Imagine a country in which the leading socialist party has no vocal Left-wing [Corbyn] faction and the leading conservative party no vocal Right-wing [Boris/JRM] faction. Imagine a state sector so large that most experts are dependent either on the goodwill of politicians who are the paymasters, or on dominant labour market organisations: the equivalents of the CBI and TUC. It means most politicians, civil servants, professors, big-money-lobbyists and think-tank directors will belong to the same political tribe.

Journalists in such a country, even after interviewing a cross section of prominent experts, would conclude all serious players must embrace every progressive cause and every corporatist...
